Is my data safe if the computer breaks?

Your data is never locked or held hostage by anything in this software, licensed or not. The real risk is the same as any file on a computer: if the machine is lost or the folder is deleted with no backup, that copy is gone. That is what the backup feature and the second-folder option are for — use them, and copy that folder somewhere safe every so often.
